Compress a PDF and check its quality
Choose a useful balance
Choose a PDF up to 50 MB and select image quality. In normal compression, eligible RGB and grayscale images are optimized one at a time; text is not converted into page images. Special color profiles, masks and unsupported image formats are preserved. Already optimized documents may not shrink; in that case the original is returned.
- Keep your original document.
- Choose the least aggressive setting that meets your size requirement.
- Use Cancel to stop processing.
- Download the result and check small text, scans, forms and diagrams before sharing.
Black and white: the entire PDF
This option renders all pages as grayscale images, including text, photos and drawings. Text selection, search, links, editable forms, layers and vector structure are not retained. Grayscale may shrink color scans further, but can increase the size of text-based PDFs. High Quality uses up to 180 dpi, Recommended up to 120 dpi and Extreme up to 100 dpi, subject to device memory limits. Check readability before sharing.
Signatures and confidential files
PDFs containing detected signature fields, signed byte ranges or protected forms are returned unchanged in both modes. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first. Compression uses your device memory; speed and supported file complexity vary by device and browser. There is no automatic server fallback.
See the processing overview, Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for data handling and service limitations.
