Protect or unlock an authorised PDF
Lock a document
Encryption uses AES-256 with the password you provide. Choose a strong, unique password and share it separately from the document. Keep the password securely: recovery is not guaranteed.
Unlock a document
Decrypt only documents you are authorised to access. The tool requires a valid password; it is not a password-cracking service. Download and inspect the result before replacing the original.
What protection does not do
Encryption does not establish who authored a file, certify its contents or prevent an authorised recipient from keeping a copy. These workflows rebuild PDF pages, so forms, annotations, metadata and digital signatures may not be preserved. Keep the original and check the saved result.
